The day started at 3:15 am when I woke up, hopped in the shower - put my running clothes on and hopped in my truck for a hour/thirty minute drive to Bayshore Drive in Tampa. I was able to find a parking spot just about a mile away so I parked and started walking toward the starting line where thousands of people were waiting to begin. So among all those people I found my way to the 2:20/4:40 pacers. The Full Moon was hanging right over the starting gate - it was about 36 degrees. I could hear a woman singing the national anthem, (couldn't see her though - the 2:20/4:40 group is a long way back there.) A gun went off and everyone cheered, started running and I said to myself - I love being a runner.I finished the 1/2 marathon at 2:27:24 - I didn't train very well for this one - my butt and legs reminded me of that at about mile 10 - but I pushed on! After all when your butt/legs hurt you can be sure they will look better in those jeans the next day and on top of that - according to my garmin - I burned 1388 calories! Not a bad way to spend a couple hours.
Notice the girls name that was waiting with me at the starting line. Too bad I couldn't find someone named Smith to stand at the end!
Wit woo you rock.
